Finished my “Ruffles” chainmail bracelet today! As you can see, the rings were much smaller than my first attempt at chainmail (see second pic). The other pattern used rings that were 1/2” in diameter, and had ~9 rings per inch. This pattern used rings ranging from 3/36” in diameter (silver) to 3/32” (light and dark blue), and the pattern uses ~45 rings per inch, bringing this bracelet to a total of around 260 rings. (!!)
It took me two days, but I’m really happy with how it turned out, especially since this is my first time making chainmail from a pattern. Do let me know what you think! c:
Note: I’m thinking of taking commissions for custom chainmail bracelets/earrings for ~$10-20 when I set up my Storenvy next week. Would anyone be interested? (No obligations, of course; I’d just like to gauge interest before investing in supplies.)
Click through for pics of each step of the process, and to see what it looks like with the clasp attached!
another silly Pokemon Fusion sketch, haha

tabbydragon replied to your photo: My mom really wants a new rug for her living room…
Oh wow! I cannot wait to see this!! I would so love to find a less expensive option for rugs.
Thanks bb! :D Here’s how it looked before I rolled it up today:

I just spray-painted over this stencil that I made a little while ago. Total cost was $30 for paint and $25 for the drop cloth, so $55 total (+ 2 days’ work, of course). It turned out pretty well, I think! :)
My mom really wants a new rug for her living room (the one I reupholstered everything for), but rugs are p. expensive, so I figured I’d make her one for Mother’s Day. c:
fyi: This is a 10 oz. weight canvas drop cloth, cut to 7’x9’, and I’m planning to paint some metallic silver over the pale gray. Designing the pattern next; we’ll see how that goes! :D
Reupholstered my mom’s barstools for her birthday a couple of weeks ago. She really liked the look of sparkly vinyl, and since the old chenille fabric was fairly new, if shredded around the edges (it was poorly made), I just left it on while I stapled the new fabric over the top and added new trim with hot glue.
The fabric is called Orion Silver. The contrast with the old-world styling of the chairs is pretty fun, I think. :D Oh, and feedback and questions welcomed, as always! c:
Tonight’s mini-project: a simple chainmaille bracelet in Portal colors. We went to a friend’s house for dinner tonight, and she offered to let me play with her chainmaille stuff! I just experimented for ~15 min. and came up with this. (I discovered just now that the pattern is called a European 4-1.)
Next time I think I’d use rubberized pliers, or ones with narrower/no teeth, to avoid marking the aluminum. And I really want to try this pattern, homg.
Feedback always welcomed! c:
I would totally be Cyborg Princess, because robots are awesome. Plus, no one would know whether I was born looking like this, or whether I just made myself a robot body one day and uploaded myself into it. :D
Thanks for the prompt, bb!
I had to do some research for this one, because I’ve never played Chrono Trigger (a rather serious oversight, I know!). I decided that I wanted to have pirate boots and a ray gun; hope that’s not too canon-breaking.
Thanks for the prompt! :D I shall continue on with my self-portraits in other worlds later today.
